Cute Museum nice park good place to take the family for a picnic
That was pretty much where we left it. She wouldn't take us on the tour at 3:15, but there were no signs saying that the museum closed at 4:00, or that no tours left after 3:00. Confusing. Didn't look like it would have been worth $40 either. Not sure why it's in the middle of a residential neighborhood either, but I guess the neighborhood was built around this property as it appears to be an older house.
Great museum! Guide was very knowledgeable and great with the grandkids. Very interesting materials. Butler Longhorns must be saved!
They close at 4:00 pm, period. We get there at 3:15 thinking that we had time to check it out. I had reviewed their website prior to going, and didn't see anything about the only way to see the museum was through a guided tour, or that with a family of four it would cost $40.
A small but packed museum filled with interesting history and artifacts about the famous Texas Longhorn cattle. The video is a bit long and boring but the rest of the museum in educational and interesting.
My SO and I were taking pictures at the park nearby and ventured on to the museum grounds to get a closer look. One of the museum staff, an older lady with curly brown hair, came out and asked in an irritated voice if we had payed yet. As we were literally only 10 ft inside the gate, we said no. She then said she had "too much going on" and that we needed to leave. She was extremely rude. We had considered taking our children to the museum, but after this experience we will certainly not be visiting. On a positive note, the park next door is beautiful ☺
The parking lot was empty when we got there, the lady was sitting in her chair at the front door as if she were waiting on someone to come up. When we get there she quickly informed us that the museum closed at 4:00. I said thank you, and that it was only 3:15. She then proceeded to tell us that the guided tour takes an hour and that it would be $40.
